03How I vet developers

Every candidate passes a technical interview with me, not with a recruiter. I check:

  • Architecture: how they structure a Laravel application and reason about trade-offs
  • PHP and Laravel in depth: Eloquent, queues, caching, performance
  • Databases: MySQL schema design, indexes, query optimization
  • Code quality: tests, Git workflow, how they review and explain real code
  • Communication: spoken and written English, working within your processes

04Your Team Lead / CTO

I always search for the developers and vet them technically myself. Then I can lead the team myself, part-time or full-time, or hand it over to your own tech lead. With ~2 years of experience as a team lead, I take on as much or as little as you need, and we agree on who does what at the start.
